The facial rejuvenation surgery is one of the most common procedures performed today. The new concepts of face esthetic surgery look for even more natural results.

The facial rejuvenation surgery aims to mitigate the effects of time, gravity, everyday life stress and of chronic sun damage on the face, resulting in tissue fall, deep wrinkles, sagging skin, slow and progressive loss of face and neck contours. The face is our identity, our “business card”, thus, the aim of facial rejuvenation is to promote an overall improvement, to return the smoothness of the expressions, to restore the contour lost and the youthfulness of the face and neck, without the stigma of a surgical procedure.

The surgery, however, is not able to contain the aging that normally occurs with all of us year after year and, therefore, does not last forever. However, an operated patient always looks better than if he/she had never been operated. Generally, the most evident results remain for 5 to 10 years, and the procedure can be repeated at other times. Most patients who undergo this surgery have between 40 and 60 years old. The surgery can be performed under local anesthesia and sedation. It is commonly associated with other surgeries for a better esthetic result of the face, such as rhinoplasty (nose surgery) and blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery).

Additional Information

  • Scar

  • The surgery of the face has scars positioned in natural folds of the skin, usually positioned in the preauricular, retroauricular and within the hair (the temporal and frontal regions).

  • Anesthesia

  • In face surgery, the most used anesthesia modalities are the local anesthesia and sedation and general anesthesia.

  • Care

  • Dressing changes, medications use such as antibiotics and analgesics, monitoring and periodic returns.

  • Postoperative

  • The patient can perform most of his/her daily activities. Edema (swelling) and ecchymosis (bruises) are normal in the postoperative course and tend to reduce. Lymphatic drainage is usually recommended to reduce and mobilize more quickly the swelling. The final aspect of surgery is usually obtained in a period of 6 months to 1 year.
